Middle Girls' Football Semifinal
In their recent semifinal, the Middle girls' footballers were playing well, trailing by only two goals midway through the game, with plenty of opportunities in the forward 50. Despite a great effort, the opposition managed to hang on and win by a single goal.
Open Boys' Basketball Grand Final
This game was tight. There was never more than three points between the teams. Our opponents went into the second quarter leading, but we pulled it back for the lead going into halftime and then going into the final quarter. With 14 seconds remaining on the clock, we scored a three-pointer, taking us back into the lead with a one point advantage. However, the opposition team had the ball. They ran the clock down and swished a ball for a three-pointer, putting them two points ahead with four seconds to play. We had the ball to start in their half. The clock started and right on the buzzer, the ball was shot, it touched the ring but didn’t drop. A very close, nail-biting, entertaining game, despite the result not quite going our way.
The boys now regroup for the Knockout tournament.
Despite some challenging results, Concordia students have character and they displayed that at every juncture.
