On Friday 14 August, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ came together for the World’s Greatest Shave, with 20 brave members of our Year 12 community taking part to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The event was an incredible success, with the Concordia community raising over $15,000 to support people affected by blood cancer. Alongside the fundraising efforts, more than 10 hair donations were made, helping to provide wigs for people experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment.
The Leukaemia Foundation supports people affected by more than 250 types of blood cancer, not just leukaemia. Their work provides wrap-around support, including emotional and practical assistance for individuals and families during what can be an incredibly challenging time. They provide accommodation across Australia, helping families stay close to loved ones while they receive treatment, as well as financial and practical support to help ease the challenges that come with a blood cancer diagnosis.
The $15,000 raised by Concordia could provide around 24 weeks of accommodation and help 239 people access support from a healthcare professional, showing the real impact our fundraising can have on people and families affected by blood cancer.
The day was filled with excitement, nerves and plenty of support as participants bravely said goodbye to their hair. For many, the event was about more than simply getting a haircut, it was an opportunity to make a difference and show support for people and families affected by blood cancer.
