Our Year 9 Dance students recently had the exciting opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Restless Dance Theatre, experiencing a day in the life of a professional dancer. Students went behind the scenes to gain insight into the life of a professional dance company, observing a company class and viewing film excerpts from current development work. They engaged in a Q&A with the artists and company dancers before taking part in creative dance workshops led by company dancers, Artistic Director Michelle Ryan, and Associate Artist Larissa McGowan. Students then performed their workshop outcomes, sharing their creative responses and putting their newly developed skills into practice.
It was an inspiring opportunity for our emerging dancers, made even more special as Restless Dance Theatre celebrates 35 years of artistry, inclusivity and impact. The experience provided students with valuable insight into the professional dance industry while celebrating the power of dance to connect, challenge and inspire.
